Every project begins with a focused briefing process. In the initial consultation, I work with the client to establish the core goals, functional requirements, constraints and non-negotiables. Setting this foundation early ensures that time, budget and attention are directed where they have the greatest impact.

Once the brief is set, the design is shaped by context: the character of the site, its landscape, materials and climate. These conditions guide form, layout and detailing, and they prevent the project from defaulting to a fixed style or predetermined aesthetic.

My approach is design-led but grounded in practical responsibility. Sustainable principles, energy performance and long-term environmental impact are built into the process from the start, and when working with historic buildings, conservation principles carry equal weight. Each project demands a specific response, which naturally leads to varied outcomes rather than a single “architectural style.”

I aim for clarity and restraint in the final result, buildings that are straightforward, well-resolved and coherent from concept to detail.
